Most excavation jobs either need dirt brought in or have dirt to get rid of. A pool dig makes spoil; a low lot or a house pad needs fill. Both are priced by volume.

Prices
| Work | Published range | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Hauling | $10 to $30 per cubic yard | Angi, Orlando |
| Leveling | $5 to $15 per cubic yard | Angi, Orlando |
| Dumpster, 10 to 15 yards | $270 to $500 per week | Lawn Love |
| Construction waste removal | $125 to $750 | Lawn Love |
Working out the volume
Length times width times depth in feet, divided by 27, gives cubic yards. A spot 20 by 30 feet raised 1 foot is about 22 cubic yards, or roughly $220 to $670 to haul at Angi's Orlando rates, by our arithmetic, before the cost of the fill itself.
Weather matters
Angi's Orlando guide says tropical downpours saturate the ground and wet excavated dirt, which increases hauling, and that daily summer thunderstorms and lightning shut equipment down and stretch rental periods.

Look-alike sinkholes
WKMG's 2025 sinkhole explainer lists buried debris and rotting tree stumps among the things that can cause depressions that mimic sinkholes. Clean fill, placed and compacted in layers, avoids creating new ones. See sinkholes.
